LEVEN Lares 8GB 1600MHz DDR3 UDIMM Desktop Ram Review Upon receiving the DIMMs, the initial inspection of each stick revealed that they both appeared to be damaged. The panel on the side that says "LARES" is not actually a heat-spreader, but just a piece of cardstock paper, and it was creased and obviously had been jostled about. It took some courage to load them into my motherboard. The initial boot seemed ok, I got into Windows, but it crashed after about 2 minutes. After that, it was hit or miss, sometimes failing to post (no video output at all), sometimes making it to the BIOS, sometimes making it to Windows but then crashing after a few minutes. I tried swapping the DIMMs around in different positions and configurations (and of course, I tried a different pair of memory sticks to make sure that no other components were defective), and I was able to determine that one of these two sticks was defective, and was causing the crashes. The other stick seemed to work ok, and was recognized by the motherboard at 2666 MHz as advertised, but seeing as how they were both visibly damaged on arrival, I decided to return them, and spend the extra couple of bucks and get some Patriot Signature Premium memory instead. What can I say? I took a chance on some cheap RAM. Sometimes it pays off, sometimes it doesn't. I'll give 2 stars, because one of them worked, at least.I would have given It five stars for everything however for gaming is good for the games of the era but not current gaming. It was an easy install and a good value for the money. When I purchased this RAM card group I foolishly did not look at what my motherboard could support for speed. So when you're upgrading your older computer, Don't just look at the max RAM supported for the motherboard, look at the max RAM speed as well. The motherboard I had could support up to 8 gigabytes, but it had to be no more than 667 MHz. I had to purchase a different product.
